Unique advantages and applications of injection molded magnets

Injection molded magnets are magnets made of nylon and magnetic powder that are produced by a specialized injection molding machine using the process of injection molding. Compared with other manufacturing methods of permanent magnets, injection molding has unique and irreplaceable advantages. The materials used include neodymium iron boron, ferrite, and samarium cobalt.

Injection molding can be used to create complex-shaped magnetic bodies. In addition, the process can use "embedded molding," "multi-step molding," and "multi-component molding" to combine injection molded magnets with other components to form a single unit, thereby saving the cost of secondary processing and assembly.

Injection molding technology can produce both isotropic and anisotropic magnets. Anisotropic magnets require an external orientation magnetic field during molding to orient the magnetic powder in the molten polymer to achieve orientation and multipole magnetization.

The injection molding process enables products to have good consistency in size and performance. During the molding process, the material fills the mold cavity completely under strong injection pressure and contains thermoplastic binders, resulting in good physical and mechanical properties in the magnet.

What are the unique advantages of injection molded magnets?

Performance: Because injection molded magnets contain a high content of polymer binder, they have strong corrosion resistance and typically do not require surface coating protection.

Dimensional accuracy: Injection molded magnets have dimensions consistent with the injection mold cavity, enabling relatively high control over product size accuracy.

In addition, the shrinkage of the binder during cooling can cause a change in the product dimension, which depends on the thickness and shape of the product. Typical dimensional tolerances are ±0.05mm.

Another feature of injection molded magnets is that they can withstand a temperature range of 20-150°C without demagnetization, while motor magnets lose magnetism severely when the operating environment exceeds 80°C.

Applications of injection molded magnets

Injection molded magnets are mainly used in automation equipment, brushless DC motor rotors, frequency-conversion fan motor rotors, frequency-conversion air conditioner motor rotors, DC brushless refrigerator air door motor rotors, energy-saving range hoods, automotive fuel tank rings, instruments and meters, lighting fixtures, printers, photocopier rollers, buffering cylinders, water pump motors, water heater accessories, energy-saving electromagnetic stoves, swimming pool equipment pipeline fittings, motorcycles, cameras, clocks, audio devices, various motor sensing devices, household appliances, household floor fans, ceiling fans, exhaust fans, air-cooling fans, office automation, transmission, various toys, magnetic therapy medical and health care products, and various fields of daily life.
